Save our Green-Blue spaces

As new homeowners in Youri Egorovweg, it has come with much surprise the planning of a proposed social development in this vicinity.

I am deeply concerned about the proposed social development and hoping you will consider how special this area is to those of us who live here.

This area allows us to connect to nature with the limited green and blue spaces. It is a beautiful place to for us walk our dogs, spend time with the kids but also a healthy, sustainable environment that feels increasingly rare.

According to Almere’s planning principles, which emphasizes green-blue and nature-based infrastructure, are a true model of how modern cities can coexist with nature. By preserving natural spaces and waterways, we ensure that Almere remains a resilient city, able to handle challenges like climate change and urban stress while staying true to the “garden city” concept we’re so proud of.

This development, however well-intentioned, could compromise these principles, especially if it disrupts the green spaces that define our neighbourhood and provide space for people to recharge.

I ask the Gemeente to consider alternatives that would preserve Youri Egorovweg's character and protect the unique green-blue framework that supports our wellbeing.

Please help us keep our area a place where nature is as valued as growth, and where we can continue to enjoy its open spaces for generations to come.
